About the Event
The Minority Health Conference aims to raise awareness around the social determinants of health among minority populations and to mobilize public health professionals, students, academics, and community members to take action for change. The conference was founded and is led by students at The Gillings School of Global Public Health, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Since 2019, the Center for the Study of Racism, Social Justice & Health has held a satellite Minority Health Conference at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health.
This year, the Center will hold a one-day livestream screening of the keynote addresses from the University of North Carolina’s Minority Health Conference. We will also screen several historical recordings from the personal archives of Dr. Victor J. Schoenbach. In between screenings, there will be opportunities for networking and unstructured discussions among attendees. Lunch will be provided in an adjacent outdoor setting, with space for physical distancing, according to UCLA's COVID safety protocols. Attendance at this event is free of charge, but sign-ups are required.
